The ACOI, Association of Italian Hospital Surgeons, founded to ensure continuing training opportunities for surgeons, has as its purpose: the enhancement of surgical activity in
hospitals and Italian health institutions;
the defense of the moral, cultural, normative and economic interests of the category, also through
participation in training and stipulation of collective labor agreements; promotion of scientific activity, research, professional updating and permanent training of members also through the establishment of annual Continuing Medical Education programs carried out
in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Regions, the Health Authorities and other bodies
and public health institutions; the development of guidelines and protocols and the promotion of trials
of study in the surgical field also through collaboration with the Agency for Regional Health Services (ASSR) and all the institutional realities in the study and scientific research activities in the health sector.
